Engine has been widely used in industry, agriculture, transportation and national defense construction and other fields. Engine manufacturer plays an important role in improving the level of development of the national economy. The piston ring is one of the key parts in the engine. The geometry and precision of free line of piston ring directly affect on some aspects of engine as power, oil cost, noise, life of cylinder.At present, the processing method of the free line of the piston ring basically is the method of profile cutter with cam in home. The machining accuracy is difficult to be assured by reason of the machining accuracy and the working wear of the profiling. And piston ring measurement mainly rely on artificial completed, its low precision, and the large amount of labor. Hence the urgent need to develop a CNC lathe test piston control system, improving the processing efficiency of piston ring, detection accuracy, in order to ensure processing quality of the piston rings.The article design and development of the piston ring lathe inspection and monitoring system which based on virtual instrument technology. And use acoustic emission technology to monitor contact, using the encoder shaft angle information collected on the piston free line data on line. This paper include:The processing technology of the piston ring set, introduced the inspection and monitoring system of automated manufacturing technology, and introduced the development and application of the virtual instrument technology.Design detection and monitoring system based on virtual instrument, a clear function of the system requirements and described the elements of the system and the system works.Analysis of acoustic emission technology related knowledge, and use acoustic emission develop the system of lathe contact monitor, designed to meet the functional requirements of the system hardware components, use of LabVIEW graphical programming language VC++6.0 programming language designed and developed contacts turning. The software part of the monitoring system, the system functions with the signal acquisition, signal analysis and processing function, graphical display and data storage capabilities, feedback control.Designed and developed for Piston Ring Contour free line on line measurement system, designed to meet the testing requirements of the hardware configuration of the system, using VC++6.0 programming language designed and developed a model on line detection system software part of the system with data acquisition, data processing, graphic display, data storage, improve the detection accuracy of piston ring profile.To run and test the system in piston CNC lathe, and determine the placement of each hardware location, confirmed by experiments of AE technique to monitor the feasibility of turning contacts, and piston free line were measured on line, can shows the measured curve and measurement error fast, the system can be reliable and stable operation, and greatly increase the processing efficiency of the piston ring and manufacturing precision.
