Titanium alloy is widely used in aviation industry. Lots of important parts in plane are made of titanium alloy, and a great deal of metal needs to be removed by milling. However, titanium alloy is a kind of material which is difficult to cut and cutting efficiency of which is low and the wear rate of tool is very high.Aiming at the problems existed in production and combining with the improving efficiency to cut titanium alloy demand of the numerical control milling cutter which is used in a domestic aerial corporation, the experimental study to improve the milling efficiency of titanium alloy had been carried out in this paper.Aiming at the configuration characteristics which consist of parameter of cutter, factor and parameter of cutting of the milling cutter which was used in process of numerical control in the aerial manufacturing, together with the method of orthogonal test, the optimized experimentation of the milling cutter's parameter was established in this thesis.With the analysis to experimental data, through the contrast of the experimention of cutting ability, the milling cutters with optimized parameter were better the same cutters which were commended by foreign company.For every cutter, there were many nature dimensional parameters, which presented the functional feature of the cutter. The database of dimensional parameters was created corresponding the design system, the Access database design process was reasonable and accelerated via inputting variables.In this paper the milling cutters which had different configuration and parameters were classified into different kinds of "milling cutter module" to simplify them by the same configuration and parameters and the module was established. Then the "milling cutter module" was converted to the program module by Visual Basic language. Realization of modularized design and using was the foundation of the cutters'functional design. Visual Basic technology was developed in the development process through the second-programming on the Autodesk AutoCAD. Through using the program module, The CAD software for the numerical control milling cutter to cut titanium alloy was developed. The software had good practicability and the design milling cutters had improved efficiency of cutting titanium alloy. The sofrware had applied in production and the research would offer optimized parameter method and the idea of computer aided design for the others cutter.
