LaNi5, as a representative metallic hydrogen-storage material, was primarily used in the transition and storage of electric energy, mechanical energy, heat energy and chemical energy. The cost of hydrogen-storage material production process was high, nowadays, and production process was complex, exigent and contaminative for the environment, but also whose energy consuming was great.In this paper, LaNi5 was prepared by FFC, which was a new simple process.In this experiment, two methods were applied to produce cathode in the FFC process, i.e. co-precipitation method and high energy ball milling. The influences electrolysis factors, which are considered affected the micro-structure and the components of cathode, are individually decomposing temperature, sintering temperature, sintering time, sintering method and the electrolysis voltage. The results showed, it was feasible that FFC process prepared LaNi5 in a eutectic melt of CaCl2-NaCl at 800℃by La2O3 and NiO or La(NO3)3 and Ni(NO3)3. the pellets were formed at 10MPa and sintered at 1200℃for 2h. the voltage range was 3.2V-5.0V. the phase of pellet sintered at 1200℃was La3Ni2O7 and La2NiO4, who were important factors. The phase of pellet sintered in microwave oven was La2NiO4.Higher voltage and voltage gradually increase were advantageous to the electro-deoxidiza-tion process.
