Traffic Flow Simulation Evaluation System Of Research And Application

With the enlargement of the scale of the road network system, the analytical work to its operation conditions is more and more important. Currently, the analytical work to traffic flow operation status use mainly such index as volume, speed and occupancy and the operation status is elicited by compared with standard. There is not a systemic index system. The evaluation work consults mostly foreign road level of service. Density is chosen to primary grade index as the most sensitive traffic flow parameter. So this method only shows the road level of service and do not reveal the operation status in specifically place.The characters of microscopic traffic simulation software VISSIM are traffic flow model and powerful evaluation function. Road traffic flow operation status can be evaluated if we use VISSIM to simulate and obtain parameters. Therefore, by traffic flow parameter simulation and evaluation system using VISSIM simulation results, traffic flow parameters are reveal along station and evaluated in this paper.Firstly, traffic flow parameters macroscopical,microcosmic and mixed characteristics are analyzed. Evaluation parameters offered by VISSIM are presented detailedly, including definition, setup, output, function.Secondly, traffic flow simulation and evaluation system is established. The system can transform VISSIM simulation results parallelism coordinate into database parallelism station and reveal traffic flow parameter trend along station. Traffic flow parameter system is established in the system referring to VISSIM parameter type. Analyzed the goodness and shortness of various kinds of comprehensive evaluation methods, choose an appropriate method to evaluate the freeway operation conditions.Finally, a freeway in Yunnan is chosen as sample road. Through analyzed traffic flow operation status, the results indicate traffic flow simulation and evaluation system can reveal well traffic flow operation status and could analyze and evaluate to the road whether it has built or not.
