The twin-tower connected structure with an enlarged base is a structure widely applied in practical engineering in recent years. It is compose of an enlarged base and two symmetrical towers, with connective structures overhead joining the twin towers together. The current thesis is set to study the dynamic characteristics and seismic response of the structure and how the analytical results vary with different arrangement plans:number and position of the connections. The thesis starts with a brief literature review of related studies on the symmetrical twin-tower structure both at home and abroad, and then it introduces the main content and aim of the study as well as some effective research methods commonly used in this kind of study. Then simplified bar models of different arrangement plans are presented. By studying the static characteristics of these simplified models, the thesis reveals the functions of the connections in a whole architect structure.Later, computation models of real-life engineering programs, applying different arrangement plans, are constructed. Through comparative study of the models, using FEA software ANSYS, the thesis explores how the dynamic characteristics of the whole structure change along with the different arrangements of connectionsThe last part of the thesis investigates different seismic response resulting from using different arrangements of connections. An optimal arrangement plan is recommended afterwards.
