RNAV / RNP flight procedures will play an important role in the development of flight procedures in Chinese civil aviation in the future. The existing traditional procedure will be replaced gradually. After researching on flight procedures design specification of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), learning the design guidelines from Federal Aviation Administration(FAA), we engage on the design and research of GPS flight procedure by aids of the practical flight environment in Mianyang airport and on testing GPS flight procedures by making use of CJ-1, finally the standard of RNP APCH procedures is proposed and the design of RNP APCH flight procedures of Mianyang airport is completed. Additionally, the RNAV non-precision approach procedure and pneumatic vertical navigation system with T-type layout are adopted to design the programs of RNP approach procedure and protective area under the the environment of Auto-CAD.The test flight certified that RNP operational procedures and LNAV/VNAV navigation mode can be operated by all the aircrafts with the RNP qualification. Then the application conditions and technical problems of I type GPS precision approach can be solved when the policy does not affect the civil aviation of China. The designing specification of GNSS flight procedures in China will be improved. Designing of GNSS flight procedures in China will be accumulated. The actual test flight parameters are obtained in the test flight. At last, the program of Category I precision approach based on GPS navigation is achieved.
