Permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) is a new energy-saving motor with the double characteristics of permanent magnet motor and linear motor. Some applications have been used in industry, such as high-speed ground transportation, reciprocating air compressors. The heating process is non-stable process, from the viewpoint of the temperature field of study domestic and abroad, the temperature field of PMLSM has no systematic study in different operating system. In accordance with the basic theory of heat transfer, this paper studies the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor, combining the structure and characteristics of linear motor, researches the thermal conductivity and surface heat transfer coefficient of different materials, boundary conditions, the heat winding end solution. Based on the thermal conduction equations, this paper initially establishes the two-dimensional analytical model and two-dimensional finite element computational model of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor temperature field, and calculates the steady-state and transient-state temperature field of two PMLSMs using Finite Element analysis software. Main factors of affecting on the temperature of linear motor and the main methods of determining the temperature rise are discussed combing simulation and the experimental results. This paper develops with a temperature test system of PMLSM. The system realizes the automatic data acquisition and real-time temperature display; it may also be used for other motor on-line measurement of temperature. Real-time temperature of the motor is given through experiments in different locations; calculations are in good agreement with experimental results, which proves the correctness of the analysis.
