Liquid refractive index is a important parameter to study the optical properties of liquid. There are two methods to measure the liquid refractive index:one is geometric optics, the other is wave optics. Experimental setup is different for different measuring methods. Geometric optics uses reflection or refraction to measure the liquid refractive index. Its advantage includes:less demanding instrument, simple operation. So it can be realized under general condition. Wave optics which using interference and diffraction measure liquid refractive index. It can be used under higher condition.In recent years, liquid light obstructing effect is found when we study liquid surface optical effect of static state. Then liquid refractive index is measured by this effect. With the aforesaid methods of measurement for liquid refractive index, there are two obvious problems. One, it must have enough to be measured liquid, and the requirements for a few precious liquids of it is not realistic. Second, because by the surrounding environment vibration, make the surface of the liquid sloshing, seriously affecting measurement result. In order to overcome the bugs above, we use liquid film shading effect to measure liquid refractive index. It analyzes theoretically liquid film produced condition and shading pattern, obtained liquid mechanism between the refractive index and the radius of shading analytical relationship, establish the measuring liquid refractive index measurement of the new method and experimental device. Experiment observed on the clear film shading designs. In the actual measurement, the radius of shading in two different methods are reading, one kind is directly through reading system directly read shading the diameter of the film, into the theory pattern to be measured liquid formula for refractive index; Another is by using CCD acquisition experimental pattern, its pattern input computer again the intelligent scanning processing, also got to be measured liquid refractive index. Two kinds of measurement results are according with accepted value. This device, the equipment is simple, high stability, convenient operation. And amount of Sample experiment uses liquid can be realized, and less of the real-time liquid, whole automation refractive index measurement. According to the experiments already mature principle and method, in order to popularize this new method of measuring liquid refractive index, we apply the patents--based on the effect of reflected light refraction aperture measurements. Liquid The patent examination and approval already successful as soon as possible, in order to realize the transformation of achievements in theory, this paper first designed using liquid film shading effect method for measuring refractive index of liquid optical system.This paper mainly studies the following contents:1. Experiment methods, the principle and equipment of measuring liquid refractive index are summarized. Then advantages and disadvantages of each measuring method are proposed.2. The principle of liquid light obstructing effect which measures liquid refractive index. Experimental setup is set up. Two indication methods which is manual readings method and automation readings method are proposed.3. Optical system which measures liquid refractive index is designed. Six parameters are determined according to design requirements. Main conclusions:The suitable illuminant is chose. Focus lens and photographic objective lens are designed. Optical glass combination and chose CCD as image sensor are set up. This paper designs optical system which measure liquid refractive index. It use light obstructing effect of liquid membrane.
