As a new type of large-span pre-stressed steel structure, beam string structure (BSS) has developed in recent years. This structure has been widely used in airport terminals, sports stadiums, exhibition centers and other public buildings. Studies on BSS is currently carried out among ambient temperature at home and abroad, while building fire is an important factor affecting the safety of steel buildings. This research has been supported by the open Foundation of State Key Laboratory of Fire Science (HZ2009-KF05) and Postgraduate Educational Innovation Engineering of Central South University (2010-SSXT 036). Single BSS was analyzed by using the fire field model and the finite element method. The variation of BSS fire behavior was studied in large space fire.Postgraduate Educational Innovation Engineering of Central South UniversityThe following works have been fulfilled within this thesis:(1)Fire model was deeply investigated and analyzed. Fire model suitable for large space fire was selected scientifically. Finally, field model was chosen for its computing accuracy.(2) Considering different fire source power and fire source location, vaulted roof large space fire was simulated by using FDS5.3. Temperature field of large space and thermal environment of BSS were studied.(3) Fire boundaries of BSS member were analyzed in this thesis. Section temperature of BSS member was calculated using finite element method. The variation of section temperature along with time exposed to fire was obtained.(4) Fire behaviors of BSS were studied under different fire source power and fire source locations. The variation of BSS fire behavior was studied in large space fire. Fire behaviors of BSS under ISO834 were also calculated in this thesis. Comparison studies on structure behaviors of BSS were carried out between ISO834 and large space fires.(5)Based on fire response of BSS, some suggestions and measures on BSS fire resistance design were proposed.Temperature field of vaulted space of BSS has been studied in this thesis. Fire response behaviors of BSS have been analyzed under large space fires and ISO834. The study method and analysis on BSS could provide some references for BSS structural fire design. It also could provide a basis to fire protection design of BSS.
