As of the underground engineering work, during the construction of the pile foundation of the bridges, the karst caves are not uncommon. But because of the unpredictability of the caves, it often brings to the normal construction works great difficulties. If the treatments are not properly, it often leads to swap drill, hammer stuck, buried hammer, plum holes, mud leakage holes collapse and other engineering accidents, even the sink or differential deformations of the pile foundation, and then the bridge may cause the uncomforted and unsafe problem of the vehicles. For the continuous girder bridge, the differential deformations of the piles will further affect the structural force characters.So, it is undoubtedly of great theoretical and engineering value that to fully understand the development rules, the basic shape, the size of the caves, and the thickness, the integrities, the shapes of the fillings in the hole of the roof strata, and to take the properly measures to deal with it and to ensure the construction to be correctly carried out and to keep the continuous bridge in the safety performance.This article combines the pile foundations construction experience of the Zhanhe Lingyun bridge of the Lingyun Road in Pingdingshan City, introduces the treatment methods of the karst caves, discusses the choices methods of the construction according to the project characteristic, guarantees the quality of the pile foundation. And (?) is expected that it can provide the reference in the similar engineering design and the engineering construction.
