Piston ring is a metallic elastic ring with large deformation and outward expansion,which is assembled to the corresponding ring groove. the tightness between piston ring and cylinder wall has a bearing directly on efficiency and discharge status of internal-combustion engine.Leak test are required for some species with high requirement or bad manufacturability one by one,because of the important of airtightness of piston ring. At the same time,the end gap of piston ring under the standard state is required to test either.Moreover,as the output of piston ring is enormous,long-term strength of manual detection is large.Not only it is easy to lead to visual fatigue,but also the quality of products depends entirely on operator's responsibility.The automatic measurement of the two parameters that light leakage degree and end gap of piston ring were futher studied and dicussed in this paper.Both of them were implemented successfully based on CCD sensors and computer vision technology. Leakage test with area array CCD was first proposed,and related algorithm design were completed.Up to the present, experimental analysis in a laboratory environment was highly finished,which provide theoretical and experimental basis for the being developed automatic inspected instrument.The main work is as following :1 Light leakage test program was discussed,including the selection of linear array or area array CCD and the design of hardware experimental devices was completed.Finally,the solution that using one area array CCD to acquire ,and then matching the whole circle leakage information was determined.2 Leakage test algorithm design was achieved,which aimed to the three parameters of leakage test.3 The measurement of end gap and data evaluation was accomplished. Adaptive algorithm was expatiated emphatically,which was an improvement than before.4 Analysis of reproducibility of experimental results and influencing factors.5 Accomplishment of serial communication based on Visual C++.This paper based of encapsulated multi-threading CserialPort Class,which is simple and practical.
