With the development of the automobile industry rapidly, the automobile as ameans of transport has been recognized by people more and more. Manufacturers areconcerned about the performance of automotive products firstly. Piston ring is one ofthe important parts for engines. Its performance has decisive influence on the qualityand efficiency of the engine. Light-gap tightness degree and the piston ring endclearance are the two main indicators. Currently in domestic, Light-gap tightness andthe end clearance of the piston ring are inspected manually but the AutomaticInspected Instrument on Parameters of Train Piston Ring cooperated with CSRCorporation Limited. There are some problems when inspected manually, such as,low efficiency, poor accuracy, affecting the eyesight. Therefore, relying solelyon manual inspection does not guarantee the test quality of the piston ring.This issue is sub-topics of one of "national major project issues"-auto parts precisioncoupling of automated detection of common technology based on laser/CCDprinciples, which called” research on Automatic Inspected Instrument of the pistonring”.Basing on the “Automatic Inspected Instrument on Parameters of Train PistonRing” cooperated with CSR Corporation Limited, the group developed the AutomaticInspected Instrument of the piston ring, which could detect the Light-gap tightnessdegree and the piston ring end clearance at the same time by multi-position. The issueused programmable logic control, PCI data acquisition card, incremental encoder andother industrial devices, combining with advanced optical detection technology andcomputer vision technology to achieve the detection.The main work of the thesis includes the following aspects:1. Designed and tested the Control System ofAutomatic Inspected Instrument onParameters of Piston Ring. Selected the appropriate implementation of components.Identify and implement appropriate control mode.2.According to the different operation modes, we determined the control method,which based on the different characteristics of PLC and data acquisition card PCI. Wewrote the program of the PLC and data acquisition card PCI to establish astable communication between PC and PLC. 3. Designed the overall program for the detection station of the Light-gaptightness degree, selected the light source lighting solutions and resolved the problemof the detection process of winding.4.Analyses the experimental device positioning accuracy and repeatability ofpositioning precision, by constantly modify the program and the external circuit,allowing the system to achieve a high positioning accuracy and repeatability.
