Fiber Optical Gyroscope (FOG) was burn in 1976.It has developed into an epoch-making instrument in inertial navigation field. Fiber coils is the most important component in FOG because its quality directly reflects the performance of FOG. We perfect the measurement of static characteristics of fiber coils in FOG and improve the measurement of transient characteristics of fiber coils in FOG base on temperature and vibration simulation. We achieve on-line testing in PM fiber coils winding by polarization crosstalk analyzer .We preliminary established complete testing system of the quality of fiber coils in FOG by a mount of fiber coils testing. At last,We probe the relationship of characteristics of fiber coils and polarization crosstalk in PM fiber coils, established the theory of two crosstalks in PM fiber coils and analyze result of the experiments relatively.The main work of this paper includes:1. The measurement of static characteristics of fiber coils in FOG is improved. First, the measurement meaning and methods of static characteristics of fiber coils is presented. Second, the position of no earth ration is determined by dynamic north-seeking methods.2. The measurement of transient characteristics of fiber coils in FOG base on temperature and vibration simulation is improved. First, the measurement meaning and methods of transient characteristics of fiber coils is presented. Second, the modulation errors of the fiber coils transient characteristic system are analyzed. At last, the FOG eigenfrequency auto measurement based on searching minimal square wave modulation errors is established.3. The relationship of characteristics of fiber coils and polarization crosstalk in PM fiber coils is preliminary probed. First, the theory of polarization errors in FOG is summarized. Second, the theory of two crosstalk in FOG PM fiber coils is preliminary established.4 The theory of two crosstalk in FOG PM fiber coils and The result of the relationship of characteristics of fiber coils and polarization crosstalk in PM fiber coils is preliminary testified by using polarization crosstalk measurements, We improve the quality of PM Fiber coils using distributed polarization crosstalk testing including fiber winding process monitoring, raw fiber quality inspection, overall fiber coils inspection, the coils'stress release and adhesive curing monitoring and temperature induced stress determination. We imputed the variation of PM fiber birefringence by the variation of temperature based on polarization crosstalk in different temperature.
