The trend of power supply of high performs ICs towards low voltage and high current output. Also it requires the power supply with good performs on high efficiency, low ripple, good regulation and good transient response.Switched-Capacitor (SC) converter with small size, light weight, high power density, and easy integrated is a good choice. But its low efficiency and bad regulation are its inherent drawbacks.BUCK converter is good on low ripple and good regulation in large-voltage-ratio output. But it can't concurrently achieve good regulation and fast transient response because of inductor.Switch-Capacitor based BUCK (SC-BUCK) converter which synthesizes the advances of SC and BUCK converter is a good potential converter in future electronics. So this paper researches focus at this converter.Firstly, this paper gives a brief overview on various typical Step-Down SC converters, their control manners and analysis methods. Then the paper gives an in-depth discussion of the SC-BUCK converter and its mathematical model, and followed is some detail issues discussion. In chapter 4, the simulation results prove the SC-BUCK converter is a good converter with low ripple and good regulation. And because the inductor in SC-BUCK converter is very small, the SC-BUCK converter can be designed to fast transient response converter. At the last of this chapter, the efficiency comparison between BUCK, 2-Stage SC-BUCK and 3-Stage SC-BUCK are demonstrated. The results show that the efficiency of the SC-BUCK converter is superior to the BUCK converter. In chapter 5, this paper gives the mathematical model of N-stage SC-BUCK with considering parasitic parameters by using average stage-state analysis.
