Urban traffic congestion is becoming increasingly prominent, in order to raise the level of traffic management, the transportation departments applied a great deal of research and technical means to solve traffic problems. So there had already built up Urban-Traffic Geography Information System (UTGIS) to manage the complicated traffic networks, also already had a foothold at the existing road network to examine the efficiency of a transportation network movement, to warn the traffic jam occurrence by making use of various control methods, and also made future-oriented design of road drainage and preparedness planning for traffic emergency. These researches and applications had close connection with the science of traffic simulation. For the above application requirements, the article, which effectively integrates the GIS technology and traffic simulation, was a research about the road traffic microscopic simulation (micro-simulation) based on UTGIS.As to rely on the "Luo Yang UTGIS", this paper carried out research of modeling, describing, applying the Road Traffic Micro-Simulation models on UTGIS, and completed to build up a road traffic microscopic simulation system combining with an open source package simulation of SUMO (Simulation of Urban MObility). Concrete tasks were as follows:1 On the basis of introducing the foundational concepts related to traffic simulation, the text elaborated the background and significance of the research to road traffic micro-simulation on UTGIS, and analyzed the domestic and international condition and the existing problem about this research at present;2 Discussed the structures, basic models and general applied steps of the road traffic micro-simulation system, and briefly introduced the open source package of SUMO;3 It emphasized on the study of setting up a model of MLRNM(Micro Lane-oriented Road Network Model)based on UTGIS, and building up an application of road model conversion which carried out the conversion of MLRNM to the static road network model of SUMO;4 Combining the SUMO dynamic models of mobility, the chapter 4 emphasized on the UML mechanism and arithmetic of the models, such as the vehicle structure, vehicle behavior and signal control, and according to the requests of SUMO established the dynamic models;5 The text gave the development of the prototype system of road traffic micro-simulation based on UTGIS, after analyzing the characteristics of its each function components, carried on the original microscopic simulation experiment, and achieved a certain amount of research results.
