This paper is a part of Dalian science and technology project. The study focuses on nondestructive test techniques and analysis methods in reliability assess of engineering structures. In the recent years, researchers home and abroad propose all kinds of test methods for different types of bridge damage. Among them, one kind of test method is attractive, that is, assess through testing changes of structural dynamic parameters from damage. This paper presents a new damage identification method, i.e., damage index method, applies it in a real bridge the first time and achieves preliminary results. This method is simple and effective. It improves the accuracy of assess and provides some scientific explanations for bridge assess. From the analysis, we know damage index method is an approximate method. But in some conditions, errors are small. So it deserves further discussion and study on its practical application so that it can be improved. This paper also gives nondestructive test method of masonry structures assess and applies it in the assess work of three structures. From the examples we see this method is reliable. ?From the data of vibrational test, we can get the masonry strength so to estimate the structural quality and where sudden changes of rigidity occur. Thus the effective reinforcement method can be made to assure the resistance of the global structure to the unexpected earthquake. And the method can be extended to the other structures with shear deformation.
