There universally exists leakage phenomenon in our country highway tunnel at present. The cold area tunnel still can further initiate the frost damage by leakage. These factors have seriously influenced the transportation of highway tunnels. This paper goes on research on the leakage and frost damage problem of highway tunnel in accordance with present condition. Firstly, this paper analyzes the causes of highway tunnel leakage from three aspects ?inefficacy of tunnel waterproof layer, seams waterproof inefficacy and lining concrete structure self-waterproof inefficacy, then puts forward a certain number prevention measures for tunnel leakage. Secondly, in order to maintain the tunnel leakage, this paper classifies the tunnel leakage into three sorts ?dot leakage, slot leakage and area leakage, then a set of reasonable and workable measures are offered respectively that the construction is portable. Thirdly. in order fully to know the frost damage problem, this paper utilizes the test research achievements abroad to analyze the mechanism of frozen swelling deformation which destroys the lining in cold area tunnel, and classifies the frozen swelling destroy of lining concrete into three sorts ?microcosmic, thin slight and macroscopic frozen swelling, and gives them a brief analysis respectively, then puts forward a lot of prevention measures for the frost damage of tunnel. Finally, according to the theory of heat conduction, this paper studies the numerical value simulation of two dimensions non-steady temperature field in cold area tunnel with the method of finite elements, and gets the maximal frozen depth of wall rock and the curves between rock temperature and time. These results provide the evidences for the design of frost damage prevention in cold area tunnel.
