As one typical kind of hard-brittle material, granite is difficult to machine. Granite measurement plates can be produced by means of mechanical lapping, but the efficiency is low. It is valuable and important to find new way.Mechano-chemisiry belt grinding of granite plate is brought forward in this thesis. High efficiency in the precise grinding of granite plate is realized based on the research of the mechanism of surfactant in granite grinding and the application of belt grinding technology.The actions of surfactant in granite grinding were proposed through a lot of grinding experiments and analysis. The influence of composition and concentration of surfactants on the grinding process of granite have been analyzed. The machining parameters of belt-grinding using surfactants have been optimized to acquire high efficiency and surface quality. The computer simulation of belt grinding has been done to set up the movement model.The results indicate that surfactants change the surface potential of granite and depress micro-hardness through mechano-chemistiy actions. The surfactants accelerate the development of cracks because of the reduction of surface tension. High efficiency of granite grinding can be acquired through belt grinding. The effect of grits size on the belt grinding is more remarkable than that of the kind of surfactants and workpiece, the speed of belt and workpiece. The simulation of belt grinding will help us to optimize the grinding conditions.
