The properties of the extractor and the force of extracting cartridge case are researched in this paper for the malfunction is arised during the extracting proceeding of cartridge case in self-propelled howitzer. At first, the traditional static elastoplastic theory is used to establish a linear-harden model, and then a nonlinear axisymmetric FEM model is constructed by means of MARC which is based on the dynamic elastoplastic theory. The results show that the second model is better than the first one by comparing with test data. In aspect of the analysis of extractor, some important data from a full three-dimensional model constructed by I-DEAS are provided for the dynamics models. A rigid body dynamic model is established through the method of effective generalized force and a dynamic simulation model is constructed using ADAMS. At last some useful conclusions have been made for extractor, and the ways to improve the capability of extraction of the cartridge case have been pointed out.
