In many low head hydraulic structure, expecially canal system structure, We are used a dopting underflow energy dissipation. However, because of the particularity that is hydraulic jump, before jumping, when water's froude Number is less than four point five, the damping ratio is so low that energy dissipator's lower river produce serious flushing, so much so that it may threaten energy dissipation structure's safty. Therefore, all kinds of auxiliary energy dissipators have been developed and have achieved gratifying effect of energy dissipation; but we used to attach importance to large-scale and medium-sized construction. In this essay a kind of auxiliary energy dissipator arplying to underflow energy dissipation of low Froude Number is developed. It mainly applies to the small-sized projects, especially to the canal system structures.The research of stilling pond of arch net floor originated in 1990, but its overall and systematic studies are still blank now. This essay is devoted to the research of arch netfloor stilling pond's hydraulic property and characteristic of energy dissipation through a series of hydraulic model experiments. The parameters of arch net floor gap rate, aperture, pore shape and thickness of net floor that have influences on the hydraulic property are discussed also, and advances hydraulic design method of arch net floor stilling pond. Arch net floor stilling pond has its excellents hydraulic property and effect of energy dissipation. The structure of the arch net floor is not only light but also cheap. It can be used either in new-built projects or rebuilt works. Now it has had practical applications in several projects in Jilin Province and has shown its higher social and economic benefits. Arch net floor has opened up a new way for the small-sized works, expecially for the canal system structures of low Frouda Number underflow energy dissipation.The achievements that are discussing in this essay perfect the theory of the arch floor stilling pond and are extremely valuable to the engineering design.
