Oxygen is carried in blood vessel in a reversible recation to haemoglobin(Hb). The Oxygen saturation is the percentage concentration of oxyhaemoglobin(Hb02) to the total haemoglobin concentration. Blood oxygen saturation is an important physiological parameter of human body.Pulse Oximeter's usage increased rapidly since its development in the early 1980' s because of its merits, such as low cost, simple operation and ect. This paper analyses the theoretical model of oxygen's measurment and discuss the present technology of pulse oximeter. The technique of digital signal processing (DSP) has been found to be an effective tool in oxygen's measurement .This paper presents a hardware solutions for the pulse oximeter using TMS320F206 16-bit fixed-point digital signal processor. In addition, The paper describes the electrocircuit reasonedly.Dual-wavelength method is adopted in detection of blood oxgyen saturation .In this method , the calculation of blood oxgyen saturation is based on the identification of pulse waveform . The paper provides useful hints on the design of a signal extraction software routine. The paper discusses the future focus points for the ongoing development of pulse oximeter. This work was supported by the newauto foundation.
