The first instrument based on thermal analysis was designed and produced in this paper. It can determine the melting point temperatures for Hall-Heroult cell electrolyte and predict bath ratio of electrolyte simpleness on site.The Hall-Heroult cell electrolyte puted in the instrument was heated to melted controled by computer,at the same time ,The computer was used to watching the process of temperature decreasing to protract the step-cooling-curve,and determine the melting point temperatures according the flat roof on the step-cooling-curve.It predict bath ratio of electrolyte by the relationship between the melting point temperatures and bath ratio stored in the computer.lt solved the problem which thermocouple and crucible are eroded easily by electrolyte.The process of instrument developing and experiment conditions and applying were described in this paper. The instrument can endure the influence caused by high-temperature and high- magnetic and dust.The workers and technicians of the plant gived a high appraise to this instrument.The success of developing this instrument has great meaning to mastery the temperature and the melting point temperature of the electrolyte and the composing of electrolyte in time. It helps to add material and to realization automatism of the Hall-Heroult cell electrolyse.lt is a great rush to the industry of aluminum.lt has applied to the producing of aluminum in GuangXi branch of Aluminum Corporation of China Limited,and has acquired great economic benefit.
