The expansive soil is a kind of soil with special engineering properties which has severe harm and effect to civil engineering. In order to prevent and treat the disease problems, people usually adopt chemical method to improve expansive soil. In the paper a new method treating the expansive slope in highway engineering was found. In which we suggest to use solution mixing with DAH improvement and lime.First the reason why the rainfall can induce the slope failure was explained. The calculation model for rain infiltration was set up. Base on one-dimensional and horizontal soil column experiment the infiltration characteristic parameter was determined. Then the one-dimensional and vertical infiltration problem was analyzed.It is determined that variation at respect of swell-shrink characteristics and strength behavior was discussed after several experiments using different amount of improvement. The effects of different improvement were also contrasted. In the end, applications of new method in actual construction are introduced . The actual using effects and the economic feasibility are analyzed.It can be concluded that the method using the mixed solution to treat the expansive soil is quite effective. The experiments results showed that swell-shrink property is greatly weakened. In same time the strength and stability are improved. It is regard that the method is quite suitable to slope protection. The most noticeable advantages are convenience and economy.
