This paper mainly discusses the variation of rotor time constant T2 and its influence to the system stationary and dynamic performance in Electric vehicle (EV) drive system. In rotor flux orientation control, rotor time constant T2 is a key issue of high performance vector control technology. For an EV drive system, the variation of rotor time constant will bring on variation of torque and exorbitant line voltage even the field orientation may be destroyed. The varied torque will affect EV dynamic performance, and the higher voltage will limit the output power due to the bound of batteries in EV. All these should be avoided We simulate and experiment on one CDD-23 induction motor and add a temperature equalizing link which can equalize the variation of rotor time constant due to the temperature. At the rated setting torque point, under the base speed, we found the equalizing link efficiently improves system performance comparing the results.
