The steel-ball coupling is a kind of new and highly-efficient drive part. This paper analyzes the mechanism of the rolling-ball coupling being destroyed and calculates its load capability by using the finite element method, which is quite advanced.First, the coupling's model is completed, and the two projects about this model are put forward.Second, the coupling's contact stress values are analyzed and calculated when put on the torque, according to the non-linear contact theory .The largest contact stress values have been found out by the static load. The rule curves about changing stress values are obtained through the method of analyzing and calculating the stress values on different model parameters.Third, both the disadvantages and the advantages about two projects, and where the two kinds of couplings could be used are obtained by comparing their stress in the same conditions (the loads are same, and their structure parameters are same).Forth, the methods of designing the coupling's structure are put forward, and the best coupling's structure parameters are also acquired. So this paper has laid a good foundation for the coupling's application and the further analysis.
