Recently, with the rapid development of our country's economy, the improvement of the standard of living, and the reform of the residential system implemented in the late 1990's, the estate market developed greatly.In the intense competition of the estate market, flat design becomes the focus client pay attention to and the important aspect as people purchase unit. The research outputs analyze, compare and induce the changes of flat design in these years and the directions of the development in flat design in the future.The paper analyzed the history of development and the present situation of house, expounded the changes of flat design as a result of the economic development, induced the totality characteristics in present flat design, and found the weakness existed.Low-rise houses and high-rise houses have their own characteristics. The paper analyzed these characteristics in chapter 3. The paper analyzed mode of life and requirement of living, which were basis of flat design. In chapter 4, the paper introduced constitutes of function space and distribution of the unit house. The basic principles of the distribution of the unit function space were stated. In chapter 5, the paper induced new methods of flat design and analyzed the characteristics of the methods. At last, the paper sum up contemporary conceptions and bring forward an idea of flat design, Which would guide the development and method of flat design.
