South to North Water Transfer Project(SNWTP) is a very important decision on Water Resources allocation over catchment in China. Research on the water transfer route last for more than 40 years. The recent research result on water transfer route is three routes, i.e. , the Eastern Route, the Middle Route and the Western Route. Each route has own water supply region, they do not overlap and replace each other.Water-supply resource of the middle route project is the Dan Jiang Kou reservoir. Arterial channel is used as water conveyance structure through the provinces of Hubei, Henan and Hebei to Beijing and Tianjing cities. The most part of water transfer from south is supplied for Beijing, Tianjing and the region of North China, and mainly for urban service water and industry, some part of water is for agricultural, ecological and environmental purposes.The two alternatives of Middle Route of water transfer are analysed. One is to heighten the dam of Dan Jiang Kou reservoir for water transfer, the other is not to heighten the dam. In the thesis, the influences and counter measures are analysed for Hanjiang Company while the dam of Dan Jiang Kou reservoir is not heightenned.If the dam is not heightenned, three influences arise. The first is the influence on flood controlling, the second is the influence on hydro power, the third is the influence on water resources, navigation, and ecological environment downstream of Dan Jiang Kou. The focus of thesis is on the second, i.e. , on hydro-power.Four topics are discussed in the thesis.1. The relation between quantity of water transfer and hydro power(both power output and electricity energy).2. The influence of water transfer duration curve on hydro power output and electricity energy.3. The relation between river inflow and water transfer quantity and hydro power.4. Study on the counter measures of Hanjiang Company for water transfer.Dan Jiang Kou reservoir has five favourable functions, i.e. , flood controlling, hydro power, irrigation, navigation and fishery. However, water transfer from Dan Jiang Kou reservoir will bring about the decrease of hydro power output and electricity energy. Two key problems should be solved for Hanjiang Company. Annual expenditure on flood control must be covered by state or local government. The cost of water supply should be calculated in detail. Quantity of generating electricity should be also calculated while the river inflow, quantity of water transfer and its duration curve are taken into account. As a company, it is necessary to take a series of measures to increase its benefits while water transfer leads to the decrease of hydro power inevitablly. The efficient methods can be taken into account as follows: i) To improve the forecast accuracy, to decrease surplus water, andto increase seasonal electricity energy, ii) To raise the peaking ability of Dan Jiang Kou Power Station toobtain peaking benefits, iii) To choose a suitable site to construct a pumped storage plant forpeaking benefits.
