The main work of this thesis is theoretical and experimental research on non-isolated single-end three-level DC/DC converters with passive lossless soft switching. A 1KW three-level Buck converter with passive soft switching is designed to verify the research.Multilevel converters and soft switching technology together with their applications in DC/DC field are introduced in this thesis. Taking Buck as the example, the operation principle and process of non-isolated three-level DC/DC converters are analyzed and discussed with calculation. Then two kinds of simple passive lossless soft switching cells, which are applicable to non-isolated multilevel converters, are introduced in the thesis. Their operation process is analysed in detail with figures and equations.Based on the above theoretical analysis, a 1KW three-level Buck converter with passive soft switching is designed in this thesis. The design and consideration of the main circuit, control circuit and soft switching circuit are presented. Afterwards, comparison of these two kinds of passive soft switching cells is discussed. Simulation and experimental results are given to verify the validity of the circuit. Hopefully, the work of this thesis would contribute to the application of soft switching technology to multilevel DC/DC converters.
