This paper presents a synthetical method of correcting finite element model, which can simultaneously correct static and modal features of the concerned structure. The objective could be boundary condition, distributing mass and size parameters. Following problems are mainly discussed in this work: How to build a parametrical finite element (FE) model How to choose the design parameters, constraints and objective of the correction model How to evaluate different sensitivity calculating methods and choose optimization algorithms How to get the normal mode-shapes and describe the relativity between normal mode-shapes How to solve the correction problem of FE model by using structure optimization techniquesIn each paragraph, illustrative examples are used to explain the methods and finally an engineering application of an aircraft correction is presented in the end.The basic contribution lies in correcting the normal mode-shapes over a large number of sample points of the structure in dynamic analysis. With the knowledge of the author, although there are some literatures concerning the study of such a problem, none of them has received an engineering application until now.The method proposed in this thesis is developed under the financial support of an aeronautical project named "Correction of the reduced FE model of a certain airplane". Due to the generality of the proposed method, it is also extendable and applied to other engineering problems such as the correction of frequency responses and thermal analyses.
