Cultural Phenomena And The Meaning

Homogenizing and uniformity extend all over the world when the global economy are developing. Culture is impacted by the change of general direction. Some cities which has centuries-old history and its own characteristic are losing their meaning. The plain folkway was disappeared in the speedy living mode of the big city. How to find a balance between local characteristic and modern times has been a question. In the architecture field, every element must be the phenomena of local characteristic, folkway and culture. So the science of architecture stands in the front of local culture. Based on the world phenomenon which has mentioned above, I make some study about local architecture. I choose a architecture of Suzhou to be my study object, because it has obvious characteristics. Phenomenology is a primary method in my thesis. It is the most nearest to the human being. Human's experience in space is my primary thought. The item of my design is a hospital attaches to Suzhou University. I make a combine between theory and practice. Human being participate in the form of space in my study. They have thought and moving ability. The design started from human's movement and sense. The purpose is to creation a space to defer to human taste. I begin with things that can be feel (phenomenon) to design my project. I search for a way to make local culture and modern times meaning together. I also study at the function and route of a hospital by the phenomenology way in addition.
