According to the match standard of American solar car and the general principle and method of automobile design, the steering and suspension and braking systems have been designed. The 3D model of chassis of solar car was built up by using the UG, which is the large-scale CAD/CAE/CAM engineering software. On the bases of the 3D model, the multi-body dynamics model of solar car was built up by using the famous ADAMS software. The k i nemat i cs and dynam i cs s i mu I at i on of suspens i on system and steer i ng mach i ne were carried through by using the multi-body dynamics model. The analysis of steering stability of solar car was carried through. The results show that the kinematics and dynamics of suspension system and steering machine are feasibility. In addition, the optimization design of steering machine was carried through by using ADAMS, in order to satisfy the need of the ideal turning angle, the best appropr iate parameters of every component on steer ing machine were worked out, which laid the good foundation for future protype research. In short ,the research shows that the design of the solar car chassis is reasonable and feasible.
