Work efficiency of a loader, which has a wide application, is fully determined by the operative skill of the manipulator. Since the runner controls it according to his experience and observation, which usually is limited, on working field, the loader is always less efficient than expected. So a solution of intelligent loading is fairly desired to improve the operation of the machine.This thesis is aimed to work out a method for automatically completing work cycle of a loader with high efficiency. An analysis of the forces acted on the bucket in the work cycle has been made and a way of loading the bucket automatically, which is based on the idea of compliance control, is proposed. The work implement controlled in this way can adjust its resistance-reducing movement to reduce the resistance caused by the material. And through man-machine conversation, different control strategies and parameters will be in operation according to different loading object while control parameters can be improved through auto-study or in manual way. Also a control system which is based on CANBus and using EPEC-controller as its control unit has been designed to implement the idea. Then, in experiment, the idea is applied to a wheel loader for test and comparison has been made between auto control and manual control. The communications through CANBus and intelligent functions like auto-study are also disclosed here.The way mentioned in the thesis to automatically complete work cycle is proved feasible and efficient in loading the bucket of the loader in the test. Through comparison, a conclusion can be drawn that the proposed idea is as efficient as a skillful manipulator in contorling the loader.The research has reached the aim to complete a work cycle of loader by means of automation and the operation can be further facilitated with functions like auto-study and auto-unload.
