Automatic mechanical transmission (AMT) is improved on the traditional gear transmission, and many benifits such as higher transmission efficiency, compact structure and reliable operation have got good remaining. AMT greatly meets the demand of China's present situation and owns a wide developing foreground because of its good manufacturing inherit performance, small rebuilding financial input, low cost and smart production batch. The paper introduced the concrete controlling strategy detailedly in the exordium. Through the description of mechanical structure, electromotor and sensors of the AMT, a whole controlling project is formed.Firstly several vehicle dynamics models and tire models are analysed. Combining with the present condition and studying require, 3 dynamic differential functions about bodywork's velocity, roll and vertical displacement are gained. Furthermore based on the following rear wheel rev function and front-and-rear wheels vertical moving function, a 6-DOF (degree of freedom), two wheels, lognitudinal dynamics model of the bus is set up.Then a short introduction about clutch's working principle is given. Through the research of clutch engagement and influence factor during the bus starting, 3 primary indexes that evaluate clutch engagement effects are introduced, and a clutch engagement model is set up.In the following, driver's starting intention is introduced to control clutch engaging time, then basing on these vehicle dynamics models, the clutch optimized engagement rule and relative bus dynamic characteristic diagram is worked out by multitarget optimizing. A contrast is made between optimized engagement rule and the common driver's practice, and satisfactory result is found. Finally a fuzzy control system is formed by the Matlab programming language and Simulink modules, and the optimized engagement rule is used in the fuzzy control in clutch engagement to carry out the computer simulation of the bus starting.
