Since the issuance of "Tenth-Five-Year Program" of the Steel Structure Industry of China and the Compendium of the Developing Layout before 2015(draft), the steel structure house industry in our country has entered an age of high-speed development.Steel structure house is a form in accordance with housing industrialization carried out in our country, it benefits progressive science and technology in the building industry, a big rise in labor productivity, improvement in engineering quality and driving the development of correlation industries. At present, with the common cooperation in policy, scientific research and market, there will be a greater advancement in our national steel housing. On the whole, however, the steel structure housing in our country is still in its infancy because of the tough practical problems such as the halfway research efforts, the huge difference between the systems, lack of technical specifications, the rudderless market and the lack of unified standards. So, the extensive and in-depth research on the structure system and its performances of steel structure house is significative and valuable.Beginning with the structural system and its fundamental performances, the paper presents a research effort to the sub high-rise steel structure house. On the side of structural system, the component systems which is applicable to the sub high-rise steel structure house, such as the structural system, the floor system and the outer protective system, were argued, and on the side of fundamental performances, it was highlighted that how the span of structure, the height of floor and the section dimension of beam and column impact on the performance of lateral displacement and steel dosage and how to decide the parameter alternatives such as the structure span and the floor height by the modeling and calculating of the structure performance carried out by a language tool named ANSYS APDL. In the end of the paper, the performances of three kind of structure system that was commonly used in the sub high-rise steel structure house were analyzed and compared before the structure system that is most applicable to the high seismic intensity area.
