A reasonable topology configuration for Aeronautical Static Inverter (ASI) is normally two-stage cascade, that is isolated DC/DC converter and DC/AC inverter. Soft-switching techniques for single-stage isolated DC/DC converters and single-stage DC/AC inverters lay the technical foundation on high power density and high efficiency ASI. Control principle, steady-state operation, and key circuit parameter selection for a combined soft-switching ASI are investigated. A lkVA experimental prototype is designed successfully with the aid of computer simulation. The validity of operation principle analysis and the feasibility of the scheme are verified by the results of experimental and simulation.The background, present status, development trend for ASI are introduced. Its foundation—single-stage DC/DC converter and single-stage DC/AC inverter with high power density, high efficiency is presented systematically. A novel circuit structure of combined soft-switching ASI is proposed in the light of idea of Resonant DC Link Inverter (RDCLI). In many circuit topologies, full bridge DC/DC converter with isolated transformer is more attractive when input voltage of the converter is 270VDC. Its soft-switching control strategy is carefully analyzed. In the meantime, PWM control techniques used widely in DC/AC inverter at present are given.The properties of the voltage-mode Zero-Voltage-Switching (ZVS) full bridge converter and the voltage-mode Zero-Voltage Zero-Current-Switching (ZVZCS) full bridge converter employing phase-shift PWM control technique are compared, and the latter is selected as front-end circuit of ASI. The steady-state operation of the converter is analyzed carefully. The design guidelines are given. The method for analyzing the converter is verified by simulation results.The principle of high frequency DC link inverter using three states discrete pulse modulation (DPM) hysteresis current control technique is analyzed carefully. The key circuit parameter selection is researched in depth, and its computing formulas are derived which provide theory foundation for the circuit parameter selection of DC/AC inverter. The simulation of lkVA DC/AC inverter isperformed by using MATLAB software. The principle is verified by the simulation results.An experimental prototype with combined topology structure for 1kVA 270VDC/115HzAC ASI by using soft-switching technique is fabricated. The power circuit, the control circuit and the experimental results are provided. The experimental results show that the circuit topology of the novel ASI is reasonable.
