It is a quite important way to simulate the flow field using the CFD technology when the centrifugal pumps are considered. But up to now, most of them just focus on the single suction centrifugal pumps or single flow channel. It is very popular for the double suction low specific speed petrochemical process pump in the fields of petrochemical and refinery, but the shortcomings of high disc friction loss, low efficiency, great rising of shaft power with the increasing of flow rate and occurring hump easily for the head curve hinder many producers and customers, and limit the development of economy.In this paper, the flow field in the impeller of double suction HD petrochemical process pump is simulated with the model of standard k-e and SIMPLE algorithm which invented by the Patankar & Spalding in the FLUENT6.0. Therefore, the main flow characteristics are concluded through the given distributions of velocity and pressure, and the meaningful theories are provided for the design of double suction centrifugal pumps. At the same time the head performance curve is drawn according to the calculation results and compared with experiments. In some extent, the forecast of pump performance may reduce the making of pump models, trial-manufacture, experiment expenses, and shortens the periods of design and fabricating.One channel was selected to simulate for double suction petrochemical process pump in the most papers, and big difference arise when the characteristics of double suction impeller are focused. In this dissertation, the calculation model of double suction impeller is built strictly according to the true model and the details described for the outflow boundary condition is given. Comparing with other boundary conditions for e.g. velocity outlet and pressure outlet conditions, the outflow boundary condition makes the flow field simulation be easy due to its convenience.
