It is the adoption of large-scale maintaining road machinery to protect and maintain railroad that generate the profound influence to our country rail communication development. However, It confines the exertion of large-scale maintaining road machinery in our country because usage cost of import large-scale maintaining road machinery and its fittings is too high. So, it is very important to carry on the research of large-scale maintaining road machinery and its fittings in our county.The tamping pick is a very important accessory in tamping stopfexpress of large-scale maintaining road machinery. It is wearable and easy wasting parts. The usage cost is too high if it depends on volume import. Although the researches of homemade tamping pick have already obtained the certain fruit, it still mostly adopt the tradition production craft. Namely it adopt the whole semi-finished product forging or castings to model and then hardfacing wearable alloy in the pick metacarpus easy abrasion part similar importing tamping pick. This paper research is based on our task group the practical new patent of "the parted type-tamping pick". There are many advantages that traditional produce technics don't have in making tamping pick to adopt parted type structure.The research purpose-of this paper is to analyses and discusses possibility of this craft of adoption parted type structure to make tamping pick. Through the failure analysis of tamping pick and abrasion contrast test, we select the fit pickax shoe wearable material; through the welding and performance test, we set about from selecting welding rod and establishing welded craft with reason to judge whether the welding between the pickax shoe wearable material which we have selected and the pickax body material or not? How is the weld quality?This paper adopt impact particle abrasion test and dissimilar steel welding test as mainly trial method to screen out the superior wearable material of pickax boot and discuss the question of the welding between wearable material of pickax boot and the pickax body material. Apply the metalloscope, the scanning electric mirrorand energy spectrum analysis instrument etc. material analysis way and MLD-10 dynamic load abrasion tester, JB-36 three use the impact tester etc. test equipment to analysis and test the wearable performance of selected material and welding quality of welding sample. So as to make certain the best welding material and welding crafts between the welding of pickax boot wearable material and pickax body material in making tamping pick adopting parted type structure.The result of impact particle abrasion test show that the best wearable material is 2C sample through glomeration anneal,850℃ oil quenching and 2 hours 300℃ tempers in selected 1#,2# and 3# wearable materials. The result of welding test show that we can acquire all wool and a yard wide welding joint between the pickax boot wearable materials (2C) and pickax body materials through selecting fit welding material and drawing up the reasonable welding craft.The result of abrasion test and welding tests show, the crafts of adopting parted type structure to make tamping pick is viable theoretically, the pickax boot wearable material we have selected haven't appear brittleness desquamation under the condition of test, and the ratio of performance and price of the material is higher; The welding joint has no obvious welding bug under the condition of test, the break mode of welding slot metal is mainly toughness break, and the craft performance of the weld material we have selected is all right, the welding craft we have established is suitable to the occasion and feasible.
