With the development of railway, large maintenance machinery tamping machine is playing an important role. The function of large maintenance machinery tamping machine is also more and more perfect, so the sensors and a variety of electronic components has increased a lot, the transmission among the various electronic components used in the line is complex, which causes difficult repair, erroneous transmission, low reliability and poor safety.In order to solve this problem, we can use CAN bus instead of the traditional connection mode in large maintenance machinery tamping car headlights and use the integrated C AN bus system to control the large maintenance machinery tamping car headlights, each sub system independent control will transform the integrated coordinated control and intelligent control. CAN automatic retransmission can solve the reliability of the traditional connection mode. And because the wiring harness is decreased, it makes the simple repair among the nodes not complicated. The C AN bus has the functions of arbitration and priorities, so it improves the security of transmission. In addition, the C AN bus also has other advantages. Such as real-time among nodes of the network data communication, strong ability of anti electromagnetic interference, transmission distance, low cost and so on.The design mainly analyzed the composition of the headlight system of the large maintenance machinery tamping machine. Through the hardware MC9S12XS128 single chip to achieve the lamp control communication. Combined with the physical layer of CAN bus as the connecting medium, each module is connected by twisted-pair cable, lighting module and control module is made up of the lighting control system, and realized the communication and control among the lamp module. C language is used to write to control the program, describes the design idea of the softwaredesign of lighting control system, build a platform for testing, debugged the hardware and software system which was designed, realized the control system of the large maintenance machinery tamping car headlights with CAN bus.
