In this paper a method to obtain the dynamic characteristic coefficients of the conic floating-ring hybrid bearing through experiment when considering the mass of the floating ring is put forward, which is based on the existing theory of the bearing and its test research. Firstly physical model and mathematical model of the bearing are established, and then according to the models formulas used to compute all the thirty-six dynamic characteristic coefficients of the two layers of oil film are deduced. Secondly scheme of experiment and digital measuring system are designed taking the current condition of our laboratory into account. The experiment was carried out successfully on the hybrid bearing rig in Zhengzhou University. During the experiment all necessary data was gathered. With the help of the advanced software DASP2003 and related equipments all necessary parameters for computing the dynamic characteristic coefficients are obtained. Thirdly the dynamic characteristic coefficients of the bearing which took place under several certain working circumstances are worked out through the powerful advanced language MATLAB. According to these coefficients curves were plotted by using software ORIGIN 6.0. Finally Several important conclusions are drawn from comparing the experiment curves with the academic curves.Besides the experiment pan .control theory for hybrid bearings is also included in this paper. With the development of science and the advancement of technology, high-speed rotating machines are requested to run more steadily, therefore people show more concern increasingly for the theory and method of automatic control of stability of rotor—bearing system. In the second half of this paper some internal and external research productions in this field are introduced firstly, and then a way to control the dynamic characteristic of hybrid bearings is brought forward. But this method is analyzed only in theory including such research as designing a control circuit diagram and obtaining transfer function of the closed circuit. All these work is original for deeper research of automatic control of hybrid bearings.
