Solar energy is not only a kind of sustainable utilization and clean energy, but also it can be used everywhere, and the solar energy refrigeration has been paid common attention because of its heat supply and refrigeration demand being matched greatly well with the season and the quantity. The adsorption refrigeration has become one of the promising substitutive technologies among the traditional compressing refrigeration as it has the features in harmony with environment and energy saving and so on, it has the remarkable superiority in the aspects of the utilization of low-grade energy and environment protection, furthermore, it has been attracted much close attention from workers of science and technology both at home and abroad recently.The solid adsorption refrigeration system driven by solar energy with rotating wheel adopting activated carbon-ethanol as its refrigerating working fluid pair has been studied preliminarily in this paper. Considering this known system at present, there are a lot of advantages relatively in the engineering utilization when selecting activated carbon-ethanol as its refrigerating working fluid pair, therefore, in order to satisfy the demand of practical application, a solid adsorption refrigeration system with rotating wheel driven by the solar energy adopting activated carbon fiber-ethanol has been designed, moreover, the mathematical model of rotating wheel adsorption bed with cylinder structure has been established too.The numerical simulation of adsorbent bed has adopted one-dimensional uniform pressure field model along the circumference. Using ANSYS to divide the model into grids, and has carried out a static simulation of the temperature field of the adsorptive wheel bed, as a result, the maximum Coefficient of Performance(COP) of this system can reach 0.126, the refrigeration effect is 5.788KW.Utilizing the mathematical model to be established, for the solar powered solid adsorption refrigeration system with rotating wheel and using activated carbon fiber-ethanol as its pair, considering the internal and external characteristic parameters of the adsorbent bed, and the influence from these parameters changing being on COP and the balance desorbing ratio and adsorbing effect has been analyzed systemically andcompletely. The results show that among these internal parameters of the adsorbent bed, the rotating speed and the density of the adsorbent stuffed has greater effect on the performance of the system; among the external parameters, the cooling gas speed from the inlet and the evaporation temperature has much greater effect on the system, which will play a positive and leading role in the future for further designing and optimizing of the adsorbent implement of the rotating wheel.Meanwhile, this paper offered the basic data and theoretical foundation for further investigation of absorption refrigeration.
