Approach of cracks in infill wall of frame, is based on the issue of cracks faced by the application of un-sintered blocks, and the purpose is to solve the issue of cracks in infill wall of frame. It was good for architectural activity, for improving quality of buildings, and for reducing the contradictions between building owner and company of real estate; more importantly, it was also good for the reform of wall and the generalization of new style building materials. So, the research of cracks in infill wall is of great theory and actual meaning.First we discuss the investigation and study of infill wall in frame. According to the case of investigation, the cracks has several features as below: 1 conjoining of infill wall and frame is most easily to find cracks. 2 cracks is easily to be found around the four corners of jamb. 3 the cracks of sintered wall are less than that of un-sintered wall. 4 there are vertical cracks besides boundary cracks in long infill wall. 5 cracks in infill wall of top frame are more than other stories.Then, talk about the causes of cracks in infill wall of frame and it's mechanism and steps. There are mainly two kinds of causes of the cracks, first is temperature, second is dry shrinkage, and the coactions of the two causes. We can see a piece of wall as whole body, called "whole body wall", as the influence of various factor, internal stress appears, when a rather large stress was formed and concentrated, if the stress exceeds the strength of extension, it will release the inner stress by the form of cracks.Then, analyze the effects to cracks in infill wall of different size, different materials, and different constitutions by the finite element program ANSYS. Comparing the solutions of the analysis, we can conclude: 1 the boundary stress is not affected by the size of wall, the intermediate stress is affected by the size of wall. 2 the stress increases as the shrinkage ratio of walling material increase; the stress increases as the linear expansion factor of walling material increase; the stress increases as the elastic ratio of walling material increase. 3 wall with jambs without constitutions is not proper to use, window beam and constructional column can reduce stress of wall.Finally, according to exist codes and standards, associate with other documentations, discuss the controlling methods of cracks in infill wall. From the aspects of walling materials, design methods and construction measures, propose the controlling methods of cracks and other quality of infill wall in frame.
