As the development of Power Electronic Building Block (PEBB), PEBB will be the basic compositive cell of power convertor, so the research on the technique of the constuction of power convertor based on PEBB will be greatly significative. On the basis of the division of the distributed control structure of power electronic system based on the PEBB, the power converter contains two parts:application manager and PEBB. In this paper, the application manager and the half-bridge PEBB are designed primarily , then a open-loop three-phase VSI is constucted by the combination of the two parts.In this paper, three half-bridge PEBBs are designed using the independent components .The USB interface is chosed as the standard digital interface of the PEBB. The application manager chooses the USB Host controller chip to design the communication interface, so it has the similar functions with the USB Host, thus it is easy to manage the PEBB' s "play&plug" . In the design of the software, the embeded real-time operating system μC/OS-II is introduced. In the end, through the combination of the applacation manager and the half-bridge PEBBs, a three-phase VSI is builded. After resolving the problem of synchronization, etc, it' s funtion is achieved and experimental waveforms are given.In the last section, this paper discussed the disadvantages of the design and propose d the further work.
