Mini unmanned helicopters have been great needed in army and civil fields because of the particular flying ability. It's significant to make a research on mini unmanned helicopter control technology.This thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a flight control system for a mini unmanned helicopter. The system, which employs DSP and CPLD as its core hardware, includes the circuitry models function in sensor data collection, serial communications interface expanding, motor controlling and power supply. And several software models such as sensor integration, attitude calculation and flight controlling are implemented on it. The test results indicate the effectiveness of the flight controlling system.The thesis is arranged as follows:In Chapter 1, the application and recent research progress of mini unmanned helicopter are introduced. In Chapter 2, the scheme of the mini unmanned helicopter's flight control system is presented based on understanding its characteristic and mission. In Chapter 3, this thesis presents the design of the hardware function model for the flight control system. In Chapter 4, the method of software design for the system is explained, including CPLD software and DSP software. In Chapter 5, the flight control system is tested and the result is presented. And finally, Chapter 6 is a conclusion with the summary of the thesis and prospect research.
