Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) is a kind of novel high performance bearing, which can suspend the rotor by magnetic force. Because of its contact-free manner between the rotor and the stator, the rotor can rotate at an very high speed and almost no wear. In addition, the AMB has many advantages such as longer lifetime, no need of lubrication, low power loss, low noise, etc. So the AMB fits some execrably environmtents, such as high spced, vacuum super clean, etc.The main content of this paper is about the design of digital control system of AMB based on DSP. Firstly, applying Electromagnetic theory and taking AMB's structure model as research objects, it deduces the formula of electromagnetic force, and deduces further single-axis mathematic model. Secondly, two radial AMB's structure are designed. For the development of the hardware in digital controller, two TMS320F240 DSPs are used for purposes of control, communication, etc. The author have presented the designing desire of AMB's power amplifier, and developed three level pulse width modulation (PWM) power amplifier for AMB. Based on above mentioned hardware system, the software for PID digital control is also realized, including digital filtering, communition with personal computer, etc.Finally, The author expects this system is going to be improved. Some valuable referenced suggestions are offered to future work.
