With the gradually development of the modern industry, the problem of harmonic distortion in the electric power system has been more and more serious, especially with the increasing of the nonlinear loads. They even threaten the normal run of power system and other equipments. The harmonic analysis has already been an important research task in the field of electric power system.This paper presents briefly the base concept of harmonic, the harm of harmonic and the significance of research the harmonic. Regard Shengli oil-field power system as to study the background, the paper analyzed the measured harmonic data of the oil field power system and studied the harmonic source models of rectifier and elements of power system. The calculating method of harmonic voltage and harmonic current of power system was also presented. Then the paper presents an improving self-adapting genetic algorithm (GA) aimed at the optimistic computation of placement of filters. As a result, it can search out the nodes that should be set filters to improve the distortion of the system' s harmonic under the variable condition. Then, it can calculate the capability and design the configuration of filters depending on the conclusion.Based on the above studies, the software of harmonic calculation of power network is developed using Delphi. The software can be used to calculate harmonic voltage and current detailed and optimistic placement of filters;the input data and calculated results can be transformed to Word and Excel form.At the end of the paper, an example of Shengli oil-field distribution system is done. The instance shows that the calculation method and the software package of harmonic calculation of power network is efficiency and practicability.
