Along with the electrical power system unceasing development, the power per unit ,the substation capacity, the station capacity, the city and the industrial center load and the load density continues to increase as well as the power distribution network unceasing development, the short-circuit current level enhances unceasingly. It will bring hidden troubles to the security,stability,credibility of the power systems. Conventional current limiters gradually show their limitation and can not fit the request of high power quality, so it is necessary to study on the new style fault current limiters(FCL).The Zhejiang University electrical engineering institute independent development has developed the new style fault current limiters, the transformer coupling solid state faultt current Iimiter had already completed the theory proof, also passed the correlation unit's approval in this foundation project, and aims at its some inherent flaws to propose and to have realized the transformer coupling solid state faultt current Iimiter with bypass inductance theories authentication, the new style fault current limiters developments work relative already quite was mature, following was it in the electrical power system the application aspect research, but also was short in view of this aspect research for the people discusses.The present paper in has analyzed domestic and foreign related current-limiting technique , fault current limiters research findings and in Our country electrical power system present situation foundations, take the laboratory development new style solid state fault current limiters as the example, studies it in the electrical power system application some related questions. The paper first chapter summarized our country electrical power system development present situation and the domestic and foreign current-limiting technique research progress, Second chapter has carried on the analysis comparison to the new solid state current limiter three kind of topology, and its inductance design method, Third after chapter has discussed the current limiter itself breakdown, to electrical power system load influence,short circuit accident, Fourth chapter based on circuit breaker Mayr model, the new style solid state fault current limiters regarding circuit breaker the Transient Recovery Voltage influences, Fifth chapter summarizes the full text, and has carried on the forecast to the next the new style solid state fault current limiters research direction.
