A linear ultrasonic motor(LUM) has a broad application prospect in the drive and control of the small and precise linear movement devices, it plays an important role which could not be replaced by the traditional motor in the following high-tech fields: precise instrument and device, astronautics, medical field, robotics and so on. Standing wave LUM is the mainstream of the research of the LUM. The research of Standing wave bi-directional linearly moving ultrasonic motor, which is usually simple and practical, will have a significant meaning for the improvement of the structure and design of the LUM and for the development of the new type of LUM.This thesis aims at the realization of the LUM which can move bi-directionally and studies theoretically and experimentally on the modeling, design, simulation, and driving of it. The following are the chief research achievements and work of this thesis.1. The characteristics, structure and definition of the LUM are systematically introduced, the current research and development status and the problems needed to be solving urgently of the LUM are comprehensively discussed, and the application prospect of it is also summarized.2. Standing wave bi-directional linearly moving ultrasonic motor has been thoroughly studied in this thesis involving the fundamental principle of LUM. The driving vibrator which is the key part of LUM is detailed designed.3. Modal and harmonic analysis of the driving vibrator has been done based on ANSYS soft ware on different restriction The sample LUM has been manufactured, and some experiments and research work related to it have been performed.4. The driving power source which is used by standing wave bi-directional linearly moving ultrasonic motor, has been studied and designed in this thesis.
