The low earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems will make an important role in the future personal communication system (PCS), for their less propagation delay, less power requirement in the user terminal and the satellite. In this paper we focus on the key technology of routing strategies and the formation flying satellite communication systems. This paper is divided by 3 topics and detailedly. Firstly, the paper focuses on the topic of the routing strategies, based on the LEO satellite communication system with intersatellite links. Secondly, based on a LEO&GEO two-layered satellite network, the topic of the access schemes and routing policies is studied. Lastly, due to the threat encountered by the formation flying satellite communication systems, the paper discusses the techniques of survivability and security. The first topic mainly studies the routing strategies of LEO satellite communication system with intersatellite links. Based on network topology structure and operating rules, routing strategies of multi-service LEO satellite communication system are studied, and a routing algorithm composed of minimal delay and minimal occupied channel is proposed. The algorithm is analyzed and simulated, and the results indicate that the system performance is improved by using this algorithm. The second topic introduces a two-layered satellite network which combined the advantage of geosationary earth orbit system and low earth orbit system. Based on this system, the access schemes and routing policies of this network are researched, and the performance of these algorithms are analyzed and simulated. The parameters such as mean transmission delay , original call block probability, handoff request arrival probability, handoff failure probability are compared and some valuable results have been obtained. The third topic firstly introduces the threat encountered by the formation flying satellite communication systems, and then analyzes the performance of survivability in the two formation models, and researches on the technique of survivability. Then the security techniques of satellite communication systems are studied, and an entirety...
