Electron beam welding is an advanced welding technology, which fusing metal with heat energy which caused by convergent high speed electron stream bombarding joint of work pieces. Compared with conventional weld methods, electron beam welding possesses such advantages as high power density, strong penetrability, precise, high speed, good control ability, good protection effect and high quality. As an advanced welding technology of aluminous alloy welding, electron beam welding has become more and more important in manufacturing. Non-vacuum electron beam welding equipment has been produced in foreign country, but it is expensive. National technology of vacuum electron beam welding is mature, but there is no research on track planning and process planning for electron beam welding. Problems of track planning and process planning for electron beam welding are studied deeply and systematically in this paper.In this paper, problems existing in aluminous beam electron beam welding process were analyzed first. Based on coordinate transformation of four axes joint-motion, Unigraphics/Open GRIP software desktop, model data of welding work piece, calculation of welding track and simulation of welding dynamic process are implemented. Track planning system of electron beam welding has been applied to weld production of aluminous crossbeam part successfully, and practical results show that this system can shorten development periods, and improve quality of production. Idea of differential plane is introduced in the calculation of orientation of normal line, and optimal orientation for electron gun is obtained. This work is helpful for guaranteeing welding quality.Based on data of welding line top surface and electron gun track, calculation methods for parameters of welding equipment size, electron gun movement range, and change range of electron gun focusing deepness are studied.
