| The soil arching, a load transferring form of non-homogeneous deformation, plays an important role in the change and development of the stress field and displacement field of geotechnical engineering. The soil arching effect and the related earth pressure computation issue has long been the concern of the geotechnical engineering. Especially since 20th century, researches concerning the field measured data, model test and theoretical study of soil arching effect have been developed increasingly. Some of the findings have been put into practice and received favorable effect. However, the current theoretical research of soil arching is far from mature. There is not enough knowledge concerning soil arching effect and there are still some problems to be solved in the computation methods. Therefore, conducting researches is this field is necessary. On the basis of previous studies, the present study conducts an in-depth research into the soil effect in retaining and protecting structure of piles in row. The results of the study are listed as follows:1. The soil arching effect between the piles is discussed from a theoretical perspective. The basic concepts, forming mechanism, classification, existing conditions, realization form of arching support, and contributing factors for soil arching are generalized in the thesis. The failure model was also presented. The forming mechanism and process of parallel and vertical soil arching were elaborately analyzed. Based on the previous researches, the researcher proposed his own opinion on the realization form and the supporting mechanism of soil arching feet, improved the soil arching existing condition theory by separating macro conditions from strength conditions.2. How to determine the spacing between the piles by the results of the research was discussed in the study. Summing up the existing approaches to determine the spacing between piles and using the research results in chapter two, the researcher... |
